About Love Metropolitan Community Church

Mission

We are a friendly and welcoming group of individuals who are seeking out those who have a desire to transform their spiritual life. We believe the church experience should not be so serious, that we cannot be ourselves, laugh, clap and rejoice.

Are you looking for a new church home? Are you looking for a place that is welcoming to all people? Many in our congregation have faced rejection by their biological families, in the workplace, or even with other religious organizations because of their sexual orientation, gender identity, choice of spouses, or ethnicity. We understand what this can be like, and it is our goal to reflect Christ in our own actions. In the times of Christ, it was with those who were rejected that Jesus gave his time, love, healing, acceptance and reconciliation so that we would know our Loving Creator.

Values

We often hear about people having a concern for the lack of 'family values' or 'morality' others have in their relationships. However, we have found those who speak of 'family values', often forget that the most important “law” that was spoken about in biblical and sacred texts was the "royal law of love" found in James 2:8.

Jesus taught us to “Love Our Neighbor". Many religious leaders say they have love, but their actions do not match their rhetoric. At Love MCC our greatest moral value is "Love". We believe that God loved us so much that Christ Jesus was given in our place, to die for us, and to offer us an eternal life with our creator. We are guided by this example of perfect love. It is because of God's love for us that we are here to share this good news with our community.

To know love is to know peace, hope and joy. We sincerely ask that as you seek for this truth in your journey, you would do so with us.

Our Core Values

Inclusion

Love is our greatest moral value, and practicing inclusion is a primary focus of our ministry. We want to continue to be the conduits of a faith where everyone is included in the family of God, and where all parts of our being are welcomed at God’s table.

Community

We offer a safe place and an open community for people to worship, learn and grow in their faith. We are committed to equipping ourselves, and each other to do the work that God has called us to do in the world.

Spiritual Transformation

Our ministry is guided by a deep desire to share a message that is liberating and free from the oppressive religious environment of our day, and is uplifting to those experiencing God for the first time. We believe that when people are invited to experience God through the life and ministry of Christ, lives will be transformed.

LOVE METROPOLITAN COMMUNITY CHURCH IN LAS VEGAS

History

We belong to the denomination of Metropolitan Community Church. Our local church Love Metropolitan Community Church of Las Vegas (Love MCC), formerly MCCLV, has been in the city since 1979. Like all MCC churches ours is an open and affirming congregation, made up of individuals. You are welcome regardless of your gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, ethnicity, relationship status, color, or ability. All are welcome. Love MCC continues to meet together so that we may teach and practice unconditional love and inclusivity.

Here in Nevada, many churches "may allow" gay & lesbian people in their congregation. However, they also may have certain limitations on how those individuals are able to appear and be present in the church. Metropolitan Community Church was the first church to reach out to the gay & lesbian community back in 1968, fifty-five years ago! Our church denomination was started by the Rev. Troy Perry in his home in Huntington Park, California with only twelve people. Since then, MCC has grown to be a global ministry in over 40 countries. Every single MCC congregation is an open, affirming, accepting, and loving church family.

Locally, our church has been a vital part of the Las Vegas Community for over 44 years. Our church believes that the Love of God can reach into the heart of all people. We believe that Jesus Christ is the revelation of God's love is for, “Whosoever believes” (John 3:16)

We understand that it may be uncomfortable to try out something new, especially a church for the first time. Our church receives new visitors every Sunday. We will not put you on the spot or single you out in any way. However, we can be a social group and creating a welcoming worship space is important to us. You may have a member greet you with hello, shake your hand, or offer to introduce you to others. While no church is “perfect,” our church has been commissioned by Christ to share our message of love and acceptance. We will continue to reach out to the isolated, marginalized, or rejected people, until bigotry and hatred are gone from the world. We believe that all people can participate in a community of faith, to love God without fear or shame, and grow into a confident follower of Christ.

Come to our church. Everyone is Welcome. Love is not exclusive. Grace is real. Forgiveness and reconciliation are possible.
